With the technique of rail fishing evolving into a more popular and widespread technique, the Proteus Tuna Special seeks to provide offshore anglers the perfect rail rod without having to be custom built or altered to protect the boat or the rod blank. The Tuna Special’s most notable feature is the extremely durable, oversized foregrip meant for resting on the rail or gunnel during the fight. This foregrip is made from a tire-like rubber material and can be moved up and down the rail without a scratch or without compressing. The extended length of the grip allows you to use it for leverage along multiple axis points. The XXX-Heavy blank is built with a slew of proprietary Daiwa technologies to ensure extreme strength and lifting power, and features a customized and rigorously tested action designed for battling the most powerful bluefin. These rods are equipped with Fuji HD guides and an all metal HD reel seat with an aluminum gimbal for the ultimate strength in terms of components.
